How and what we are

Grythyttan Whisky is producing Swedish Single Malt Whisky in Scottish copper pot stills. The distillery came on stream on the 16^th of October 2010.

We are located on a farm called Ekeberg, dating back to the 13th century. Here, in the rich fertile soils of middle Sweden we grow our own barley.

The fresh, clean spring water that is used is coming from the same well that King Gustav I used while courting his wife to be, Margareta Eriksdotter Leijonhufvud. They married in 1536, and she was queen for 15 years.

We are unique

Well, these days; who isn't? But we, the truly traditionall distillery, use fermenters build from Oregon Pine. This enhances our complex flavor and unique taste of our whisky. As far as we know, we're the only ones in Sweden.

We offer the unique possibility to have your own whisky barrel for aging in our bonded warehouses until bottling.

We are the second largest whisky company in Sweden, and we are aiming for the Swedish Stock Exchange.

Our New Make has received very good reviews and is sold through the stately spirit company, Systembolaget.

We offer visitors daily tours, tastings as well as dinners. In our cozy and friendly Visitor Centre you will find Swedish premium glass wares from Kosta Boda and Orrefors as well as country clothes from well-known Barbour.

We also offer a wide range of locally produced food with whisky flavor; Whisky honey, mustard with whisky, Whisky Cheddar, whisky fudge etc.

In our Whisky Bar you can taste our products, and in our Whisky Lounge you can relax in front of the open fire place, enjoying whisky books or magazines from our extensive whisky library.

We also offer our Whisky School to people interested in acquiring a working knowledge from a Whisky Distillery.
